Product Description The U3 DataTraveler opens up a whole new world of smart drive computing. It allows any PC user working on a Windows 2000 or XP system the freedom to work with their own U3 workspace carried on a device small enough to fit on a keychain. Designed for work, play or education, the U3 DataTraveler is ideal for users who move between different locations that have PCs, including: home, office, homes of friends and family, hotel business centers, Internet caf?s and print shops. The Launchpad serves as a Start Menu from which U3 programs are launched and other functions are managed. It creates a personal workspace where you can add and remove software programs, change settings and preferences, manage storage capacity and monitor information about the U3 smart drive and the software programs residing on it.The U3 DataTraveler restricts access and maintains data privacy by allowing you to set your own personal password with the password protection feature. add and remove software programs, change settings and preferences, manage storage capacity and monitor information about the U3 smart drive and the software programs residing on it.The U3 DataTraveler restricts access and maintains data privacy by allowing you to set your own personal password with the password protection feature.

Died after 2 days. June 18, 2008 Died after a couple of days of use. Seller offered 7 day garuntee but has not respond to email for replacement or refund. I thought only SanDisk thumb drive died like this.
Excelent May 9, 2007 I bought this pen drive two months ago, and i didn't have trouble with it, the u3 system is excelent because i can install skype for example and you can use anywhere...
Drive itself is great, U3 software troublesome January 24, 2007 As a sysadmin, I am administering Windows, Linux and Mac PCs all day, and need this device to go between them all seamlessly.
Pros: lots of room for data, after much headache, I uninstalled U3 and the drive now works on all platforms
Cons: The U3 caused trouble from the start. Confuses linux machines (I wasn't expecting U3 to work, of course, but it is supposed to appear just like a data drive on non-Windows PCs - instead, it just failed), failed to work on a Mac, failed to work on VMware Windows images, failed to work on Windows PCs where the PC has some policies that prevent full access to the PC (i.e. most work/corporate environments). Other cons are that it doesn't fit well onto my keychain. It comes with an extremely flimsy cord to attach it to things - so flimsy it was immediately obvious that it would break on a keychain with the way keys get used throughout the day. So, I ditched the cord and fished the keychain loop through the actual plastic hole on the end of the key. But it's too small to allow for free movement, so it is always tangling up my keychain. The lid appears to be getting looser the more I use it, too.
u3.com has the uninstaller product. It works fine, and now the drive acts just like a 1GB plain data drive. I recently bought 20 of these for distribution at work. We unpack them and immediately remove U3 before handing them out - it would be a support nightmare otherwise. My advice is to buy a drive without U3 or similar technology while you still can.
A Great Techie Tool January 9, 2007 It's a great tool to have at all times. Security, provacy, and power in one little handy device. And the U3 apps are multiplying quickly. Next I want a full-blown system on a flash drive.
If I lost it.....I would buy another!!! December 24, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this for 3 months and to me it is the best thing since sliced bread. With the purchased Roboform software, that remembers ALL my passwords and fills in forms with my personel info with ONE click. I use this many times a day and it does take some extra effort to eject, but it is a great reminder to be sure all your files are finished downloading. In todays world where programers make you use different password requirements, it is great to have all these in one safe place. The security is excellent, you need to only remember one password, the unit has a built in time-out feature for added security. I tried to test the security "flaw" by booting with it in....still asked for password!!
